[at State History Museum, Moscow]
In September 1497, Ivan III compiled all the laws into the Sudebnik.
(The earliest law code is the Russkaya Pravda written in the 11th century)
According to LV Tcherepnin, September 1497 was the beginning of compiling Laws and ended in February 1498.
Sudebnik is the first code of laws of the unified Russian State. It limits freedom of peasants and transition from one landlord to another.
